In recognition
of their hardwork, perseverance and success,
the PE
Department gave the BANGERS
the STO.
NIņO drum set.
It was a major
motivation
for the group to succeed even more.
Sir Robinson Laxa was deemed the new adviser.
Many more beats
and cheers were composed in the following year,
wherein UST
won its 2nd consecutive basketball championship.
This season marked
the first time
the BANGERS and the Salinggawi
Dance Troupe (SDT)
collaborated
for the first cheering competition,
the Jollibee
Chi-Cheer Kayo Contest.
UST added the
cheering competition to their dominance,
winning
the championship.
It was a field
UST dominated for 2 more years until 1997,
when UST decided
to withdraw
from the cheering
competition in the UAAP,
and instead
competed in the Lipton Iced Tea Cheering Competition
which they also
won.
Meanwhile, during
the 1996 season,
female
members were admitted into the group.
The following
year,1997,
the BANGERS were christened the YELLOW JACKETS.
The year 2001
was a historic one for the YELLOW JACKETS.
Finally, they
were given recognition by the OSACS
as a legitimate
university-wide student organization.
By-laws were
passed and approved as the YELLOW JACKETS
elected its
first set of officers,
with Franco Lorenzo Cachero as its first President.
from a simple
vision of giving support to its alma mater,
the YELLOW JACKETS had indeed come a long way -
a way frought
with hardships, sacrifices, and triumphs.
the
UST YELLOW JACKETS
embraces
its guiding principle to the heart:
-
SUAVITER IN MODO, FORTITER IN RE -
gentle in manner, firm in deeds.
